Contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancy include the pill, condoms for men and women, IUDs and natural fertility control. Emergency contraception, or the morning after pill, is also available. Vasectomy for men and sterilisation for women are permanent forms of contraception. Abortion advice and services are also available.

Reversible contraceptives

Reversible contraceptives include condoms for men and women, the pill and the mini pill, injectable contraceptives like Depo-Provera and natural fertility control methods such as the Billings method.

Permanent methods

Permanent methods of contraception include vasectomy for men and female sterilisation including tubal ligation and the Essure procedure.

Emergency contraception

The morning after pill is an emergency contraceptive and can be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse.

Abortion
