School days ... all about

Page content: Common concerns | Food for school | Immunisations | Common conditions | Learning problems | School when you have a health condition

School brings new challenges for children and parents. Making friends, peer pressure, self esteem, bullying, safety in the playground and learning issues might concern students and their parents. Common problems like nits and head lice can also be a problem. Healthy and tasty food for school lunch boxes is important.

Common concerns

Bullying, peer pressure and self esteem might concern some children. Safety while going to school is also important.

Food for school

Kids need breakfast to stay healthy and alert, pack a nutritious lunch box and avoid or limit junk food at school.

Immunisations

A school entry immunisation certificate is required so the school knows if your child is protected during an outbreak of diseases like measles.

Common conditions

Head lice, conjunctivitis and school sores are common conditions that can spread easily at school.

Learning problems

Learning difficulties like dyslexia and expressive language disorder need support so children can reach their potential.

School when you have a health condition

Some conditions like asthma need ongoing care and support and may interrupt schooling.
